About Neelo

Neelo is a gamified learning app that helps kids ages 5-10 build essential life skills through interactive play. Think Duolingo for life skills.

Children learn to manage big emotions, navigate social situations, and approach challenges with confidence through engaging stories and games.

Kids explore magical worlds guided by Nova, their friendly dog companion, while parents track progress and get conversation starters through a dedicated Parent Portal.

Neelo is designed for families who want play time to support real growth.

It’s ideal for kids ages 5-10 who are learning to navigate emotions, friendships, and everyday challenges. (Neelo may be designed for kids but the life skills Neelo teaches are foundational for everyone. We all use these skills every day, no matter our age!)

Neelo is designed for children between 5 and 10 years old.

Younger kids enjoy the guided narration and visual gameplay, while older kids engage more deeply with the storylines and problem-solving challenges.

Yes! Each child can have their own profile with separate progress tracking.

Every child benefits from building these foundational life skills.

Whether your child is outgoing or reserved, confident or cautious, these are tools they’ll use every day for the rest of their lives.

Learning & Development

Neelo teaches foundational life skills like empathy, problem-solving, cooperation, emotional awareness, and resilience. The building blocks for thriving relationships, and a happy, fulfilling life.

Neelo’s curriculum was developed with child psychologists and educators around five core skill areas:

• Cooperation & Peer Relationships: Building friendships and navigating conflicts

• Emotional Regulation & Resilience: Understanding feelings and bouncing back from setbacks

• Communication & Social Understanding: Listening, empathy, and expressing emotions

• Focus, Responsibility & Self-Control: Following through and making thoughtful choices

• Confidence & Self-Esteem: Practicing courage, positive self-talk, and persistence

Each area unfolds through story-driven adventures across Neelo’s magical worlds, where play naturally reinforces real-life skills.

Kids explore themed worlds and make choices in scenarios that mirror real life – like handling disappointment, making new friends, or solving problems with teammates. They learn through play and reflection, not lectures.

Life skills are the everyday social and emotional abilities – like cooperation, self-awareness, teamwork, empathy, and resilience – that help kids thrive in friendships, at school, and at home.

Neelo focuses on life skills that support academic success – like focus, listening, cooperation, and emotional vocabulary – but doesn’t directly teach subjects like math or science.

Yes. Neelo’s curriculum is built on evidence-based social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques used by educators and child development experts.

Neelo isn’t a replacement for therapy, but it’s a great complement to counseling, occupational therapy, or school SEL programs. It gives kids a fun, low-pressure way to practice coping strategies and communication skills they’re learning elsewhere.

Parents see progress summaries in the Parent Portal showing which skills their child is exploring and how they’re engaging with the content. Kids track their own achievements through in-game rewards and unlocked worlds.

Neelo requires an internet connection to load and play content.

Most levels take 10–15 minutes. Neelo is designed for short, meaningful sessions rather than marathon play.
